Language Arts: DLR - Daily Language Review

• Students have been working hard on their snow globe stories.  This week we completed our good copies and shared them with the grade 1's and kindergartners.

List 11 spelling test this Friday, Feb 1st.

Math: Numbers - part 2 - making addition and subtraction sentences from diagrams. Learning about fact families.

Science:  All about magnets - early magnets - load-stone.

Social: Early days of Iqaluit - words about Iqaluit worksheet.

• Social quiz - will go home on Monday - please sign and return.
• Students built igloo's using toothpicks and marshmallows in the learning commons.

Religion: Learning about mass - video - Brother Francis

Health:  Learning about the heart/blood/activity.

Gym: Finished our Winter dance - we presented it to the grade 1's this week.  Great job 2M!!!

Art:  Finished our Snow Globe Art.

Upcoming:

Jan 28th - Feb 7th: Storybook Residency on The Lion King
(School presentation on Thursday, Feb 7th @ St. Mary's - tickets available to purchase)

Jan 30th: Return home reading

Feb 1st: List 11 spelling test/Fun Food Little Ceasars

Language Arts: List 10 practice/wonderful words/spelling test/Calendar

• Snow Globe Writing - we are just starting to finish our narratives.
• No spelling words this week as it is a short week.

Math: Numbers review/Numbers test - please sign and return if not already.

• Numbers part 2 - addition and subtraction up to 18

Science: Magnetism

• Teachers Pet Presentation - students took home their own magnet dog park.

Social: Looking at weather and bodies of water in Meteghan, Iqaluit and Saskatoon.

• Social quiz - Thursday, Jan 24th - see study sheets that went home Friday.  Test is fill in the blank and multiple choice.

Health: Looking at our heart/blood - heart-rate when we exercise.

Religion: Parts of the mass.

Art: Finished Snow Angel Art and Snow Globe Art.

Gym: Learning Winter Dance

***We had a special visit from some members of the Stampeders and the Grey Cup.***

Upcoming: 

Jan 21st:  New lunch time procedures - Division one will now eat first then go outside(div 2 will go outside first then eat second).

Snow Globe Narratives - If I were stuck in a snow globe - students have been brainstorming how they got stuck in a snow-globe and worked on creating:  A Great Beginning/What is feels like/looks like(using 5 senses)/What they did inside the snow globe/A  Great Ending - How they escaped.
